Ajman Police holds Informative lectures on Cybercrime at AU

The Deanship of Student Affairs at Ajman University in collaboration with the Community Police Department at the Ajman Police organized a workshop on cybercrime. More than 200 attendees benefitted from the informative and interactive workshop held at AU campus. 

His Excellency Salem Bin Khalifa Al Ghafli, Deputy Senior Public Prosecutor; Captain Dr. Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Chairman Community Police Department, Ajman Police delivered speeches. They addressed the menace of cybercrime and outlined the initiatives undertaken by the government on both local and national levels.

They briefed the audience about the types of cybercrimes and the legislations in place to fight them. They stressed that UAE was the first country in the GCC to pass laws against cybercrime.

Cybercrime is a fast-growing area of crime. More and more criminals are exploiting the speed, convenience and anonymity of the Internet to commit a diverse range of criminal activities that know no borders, either physical or virtual, cause serious harm and pose very real threats to victims worldwide. 

His Excellency Al Ghafli, outlined the strict penalties imposed by law onto those committed the varying degrees of this crime. He pointed out that accessing blocked websites, mail fraud, credit card scams, social media molesters, privacy breaches, fundraising are some of the types of cybercrimes.

Dr. Nahla Al Qassimi, thanked the speakers and presented them with a certificate of appreciation along with memento trophy.
